Cultures, Flavors, and New Friendships: A Recap of Our January Workshops

At the end of January, Akwedukt Association turned into a vibrant hub of international culture. On the 22nd, 27th, and 29th, we hosted three unique evenings dedicated to the youth of Kwidzyn, led by our talented international volunteers. It wasn’t just about learning; it was about sharing stories, tastes, and great energy.

Here is a quick recap of what went down:

Pasta in many ways with Sándor Who knew pasta could be so versatile? Sándor proved that even the simplest ingredients can create something extraordinary with the right technique. Beyond the recipes, the focus was on teamwork—participants rolled up their sleeves and prepared a delicious meal together, proving that the kitchen is the best place for integration. But only that! We were shown some unique recipes by one of our volunteer's family from Peru.

Spain through the eyes of Luciana and Antonio For one evening, we forgot about the Polish winter and escaped to sunny Spain. Luciana and Antonio shared authentic stories about their culture and daily life that you won't find in any guidebook. The highlight? Tasting local dishes prepared by our volunteers, which brought a real Spanish temperament to our space.

Moroccan stories with Asmaa The final evening belonged to Morocco. Asmaa introduced us to the mesmerizing atmosphere of her home country. We didn't just listen; we participated in the ritual of brewing traditional mint tea and tried our hand at creating intricate mosaics. We wrapped up the night with a competitive Kahoot quiz to see how much we had learned!

Why does it matter?

Events like these are the heart of what we do at Akwedukt. They provide a safe space for local youth to practice their English in a natural way, break cultural stereotypes, and simply meet new people from all over the world.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! If you missed out this time, keep an eye on our social media for upcoming events!

A taste of Spain in Kwidzyn: kicking off the cultural session at Akwedukt!

On January 27th, 2026, we officially launched our new cycle of cultural presentations at the Akwedukt Association. Our first stop? Spain!

Our European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteers, Antonio and Luciana, took over the Youth Space to share the vibrant soul of their homeland. It wasn't just a lecture; it was an immersive journey through Spanish traditions, diverse landscapes, and the unique lifestyle that makes Spain so captivating.

Culture You Can Taste

The highlight of the evening for many was the culinary experience. Antonio and Luciana prepared a variety of traditional Spanish dishes, giving the local youngsters a true "flavour" of Spain. Exploring a new culture through its cuisine is always the best way to break the ice and start meaningful conversations!
